Most of iOS 5.0.1 users must have jail broken on their iPad or  their other devices with the recent jailbreak release and are running iOS 5.0.1 only as JB users cant upgrade to iOS 5.1 as it will remove the jailbreak. With the release of iOS 5.1 and iPhoto last week by Apple, many users have bought iPhoto App. Many users are facing a crash issue if they are running a jailbroken iPad or any other device with iOS 5.1 installed on it. As I said before, these users cant even upgrade to iOS 5.1 as it will remove the jailbreak and at the moment, there is no  untethered jailbreak available for iOS 5.1.

The iPhoto crash occurs just within few seconds after you run the app on iPad. The iPhoto App tries to update the photo library and the crash happens almost in few seconds. One of the reasons for this crash is large number of existing pictures, photos etc. on your iPad and due to some bug, the app crashes.

Thanks to @typ0s2d10, this crash can be fixed. He has released a fix called iPhoto501Fix for Free in the Cydia store and it can fix the crash issues of iPhoto on JB iOS 5.0.1.

Just run the Cydia and search for iPhoto501Fix. Just select the fix and click on install. It will be installed almost instantly as it is just a tweak and after that it will restart your springboard.

After the installation, when you run iPhoto App, it wont crash and will update the photo library too even it is too big. At the moment, still not all functions of iPhoto work, but most of them do work.

Running this cydia fix can help you install and run iPhoto app on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2  running iOS 5.0.1. I am using iPhoto on iOS 5.0.1 on my Jailbroken iPad 2 almost without any issues and its working great.
