Many of you may ask why you need a backup of online accounts or data. Most of you including me has loads of data stored up in Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Google Docs, WordPress, Blogger, friendfeed etc. You get to lose all the data if something happens to your online accounts. Here’s what the Backupify says about why you should backup you online accounts :
Your lifestream contains important data, but all those pictures, videos, documents, and blog posts are exposed to potential loss. Some web 2.0 services shut down without warning. Others are hacked. Sometimes data is lost from basic human error, or the intentional actions of a disgruntled employee. Don’t put your lifestream at risk when there is a simple, easy, low cost way to back it up.
Services That Backupify Support :
Backupify stores all of your data on the Amazon cloud powered by Amazon with proven security and data duplication policies. In the unlikely event that something ever happens to Backupify, data is still safe at Amazon and you can get it data back with the help of Amazon. Even Avinashtech uses Amazon S3 services for backing up Avinashtech .
Backupify got a great privacy policy in place which talks about how they handle the stuff they store. They don’t see, analyze or do anything else with your it. That’s a great privacy policy.
The only complication I found was related to Restore feature. The restore feature was still not clear to me very well. The reason being that restoration is dependent on the account you want to restore. Also, some restoration is manual e.g. Flicker. This feature still need to get Automated and perhaps some more work is needed for that.
The service is FREE if you sign-up before 31st January 2010. So hurry guys and sign-up for it.
Personally, I am still to get confident of keep all online accounts information at a single place even though its backed up using secured Amazon services. Still many of you would like to give it a try.
I would love to hear feedback from you guys.
