ESET has released the beta version of its flagship product ESET Smart Security 5 and is available for public download for anyone who wish to give it a try. For those of you who are unaware of this product, its basically one of the best Internet security suites available for your system. I had tested its version 4 long time back when it was released and hopefully I will do some testing again when the final version is released.
Some of its key features include Parental Control, Cloud Powered Scanning, Improved Antispam, Enhanced Media Control, Intelligent Firewall along with the regular antivirus. This new beta version in addition to a Fresh GUI also incorporates Gamer Mode also which lets you put the ESET smart security suite in silent mode letting you play your games or do your work without any interference or pop-ups etc.
It also adds a new geeky feature of Advanced HIPS Functionality which can be customized by specifying rules for the system registry, active processes and programs etc.
As it is with any beta product, you should not install it on any production machine as it is bound to have some bugs or issues. There is a well documented list of issues that are associated with ESET smart security 5 beta. Have a look if you want to check before installing it.

Hi Avi! Have you had a chance to see what the memory usage is for this program?
Well, I did installed the beta version on my system and it looks fine. Cant give a figure in terms of RAM as i need to do a bit of more testing. System with 1 GB RAM (Windows XP) was running quite smoothly after installing ESET smart security 5 beta.
Just checked that. On my 1 GB Ram desktop, ESET is taking~75 MB memory. Hope that helps.
