Add-ons if you remember changed the way we use web browsers like Firefox and Chrome for browsing the web. In terms of Smartphone, you can term these add-ons as the Apps which changed the way we use our mobile devices and are available in Android, iOS or Windows Store. Google today announced something similar for its Google Docs’ spreadsheet and word processor apps. An Add-on store for Google Docs’ spreadsheet and word processor apps is launched by Google today with 50 Add-ons initially.

To browse through add-ons for Docs and Sheets, select Get add-ons in the Add-ons menu of any open document or spreadsheet. (Add-ons for spreadsheets are only available in the new Google Sheets)

Some of the featured Add-ons that are availble in the store today include:

  • Avery Label Merge
  • EasyBib’s Bibliography Creator
  • Mailchimp,
  • Letter Feed
  • PandaDoc
  • Uberconference

By announcing an Add-on store, Google is trying to create a developer ecosystem just like the Android or the iOS one and in turn make Google Docs more attractive and useful to its end users. Considering that Microsoft office is still the most dominant tool for creating documents around the web, this store is going to add much-needed value to Google Docs provided the store grows big just like the Google Play Store for Android.
