The difference between this special version and the platinum one is already illustrated on the promo page. So its not the free version though it lacks some features compared to platinum version as stated on the promo page. The cost of this version is $29.95.

I got it, used it and now for my take on it. It seems to be a very stable ripper, however, I don’t feel it’s the fastest as some have said or even as fast as other free rippers. It was a very stable rip which was good, but I was not impressed with the quality which was a bit choppy compared to others I did the same rip with. All in all it’s a decent ripper but still limited in some areas, even in the platinum version, I can’t find where it would support extract to .vob which if in fact it doesn’t, if I wanted to backup my movie on a DVD, It would be a whole other process to convert to other formats then back to DVD. DVDfab will do most of this stuff and backup a whole movie and is faster in doing so.
In all fairness, most of the options are disabled, like X64 support, quality levels, etc… however, this is still typically a “PAID FOR” version and no offense to anyone but I feel that would be a major ripoff to paying customers, it’s hardly fit to be shareware let alone paid version and in my opinion, it’s not right. Platinum has far more, I’ll give it that but not enough to keep me using this unfortunately. It may work for some and like I said, it is stable, just not what I would consider usefull for a paid software.
Last, I still like to say thanks to WinX DVD for allowing us to use this version regardless, very cool of them. :) And Avinash for setting this up for all of us. May the New Year be a great one!
OOP forgot to mention, I compared with Any Video Converter, Quick Converter, and a few others which are all freeware and they to me did seem faster and had better quality “than the WinX current version above” can’t honestly say about the Platinum and would be unfair since I didn’t use the Platinum version.
Thanks a lot PChammer giving such a detailed feedback regarding the product. Personally i am not such a big freak when it comes DVD kind of stuff and ripping, so i wasn’t able to personally compare it with other versions or how fast or good it is compared to any other product in same category.
I would just like to say thanks to readers like you and Winxdvd for this giveaway offer. This one is certainly a useful product for many of you even though it may not be the best one.
