Apple has announced a new Mac mini built around the all-new M6 chip, with an M5 Pro option above it. The Mac mini M6 price in India starts at ₹99,900, the M5 Pro model starts at ₹2,09,900, pre-orders opened on 25 August, and deliveries begin on 22 September. Apple also announced a new Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra the same day.

Mac mini M6 price in India and availability
Pre-orders are live on apple.com/in and in the Apple Store app across 30 countries and regions. Units start reaching customers, Apple Stores and authorised resellers on 22 September.
- Mac mini with M6 — ₹99,900 (₹88,900 education)
- Mac mini with M5 Pro — ₹2,09,900 (₹1,97,900 education)
That is a large jump. When Apple launched the M4 Mac mini in October 2024, its own India press release put the entry price at ₹59,900, and the M4 Pro version at ₹1,49,900. So the base model is ₹40,000 dearer than the machine it replaces and the Pro model ₹60,000 dearer. Part of that is real: the entry configuration now ships with a 512GB SSD alongside 16GB of unified memory. But a 67 percent increase on the starting price is not a storage bump, and it lands in a year when Apple has already raised prices citing memory costs. The Mac mini’s whole appeal in India was that it was the cheap way into a Mac. At ₹99,900 before you add a display, keyboard and mouse, that argument is much harder to make.
One naming quirk worth knowing before you order: the standard model uses the newer M6, while the step-up model uses the M5 Pro — a generation older in architecture, but with far more CPU and GPU cores and more memory bandwidth. “Pro” here means more cores, not a newer chip.
Specifications
Both models keep the same ultracompact enclosure, and both gain Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet with a 10Gb option. The front carries two USB-C ports supporting USB 3 plus a headphone jack with high-impedance headphone support; the back has HDMI, Ethernet and three Thunderbolt ports. Apple has also added genlock support over USB-C for synchronising a display with a camera, including the iPhone 17 Pro.

“With a more powerful CPU and graphics, Neural Accelerators in the GPU, and higher memory bandwidth, Mac mini with M6 delivers a whole new level of AI performance.” — Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer
How to read Apple’s performance numbers
Apple’s headline claims for the M6 model — up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster graphics and storage, 40 percent faster CPU — are measured against the M4 Mac mini. The bigger multipliers in the press release use much older baselines. The “up to 13.5x faster LLM prompt processing in LM Studio” figure is against an M1 Mac mini from 2020; against the M4 the same test is 4.8x. Apple’s spreadsheet claim is 2.3x versus M1 and 1.5x versus M4. For the M5 Pro, the 8.5x LLM number is against an M2 Pro, dropping to 4x against M4 Pro. All of this testing was done by Apple in February 2026 on its own configurations, so treat it as a directional claim rather than an independent benchmark.
The Apple Intelligence catch for Indian buyers
Apple is selling this machine on AI. The press release leans on Siri AI, agentic workflows and on-device models, all of which are tied to macOS 27, currently in public beta and due as a free update this autumn. But Apple’s own footnote lists the languages Apple Intelligence currently supports: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Japanese and Korean. No Indian language appears on that list. If you use your Mac in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali or Marathi, the features Apple is charging a ₹40,000 premium to showcase will not speak your language on day one. That is worth weighing before pre-ordering on the AI pitch alone.
Should you buy now?
If you need a small, quiet desktop that runs local AI models or heavy video and 3D work, the M5 Pro configuration with 64GB of memory and 307GB/s of bandwidth is genuinely capable in a way no similarly sized PC is. If you were eyeing the Mac mini as an affordable entry Mac, the maths has changed and there is no rush: waiting for independent benchmarks to land closer to 22 September costs you nothing, and the M4 model that anchored the old price is no longer listed on Apple’s India store. Also note that macOS 27 is still in public beta — Apple says it will arrive as a free update this autumn, and has not said which macOS version will be preinstalled on the machines that ship on 22 September.
