I am having a iPad 2 with iOS 6.1.2 installed on it and is being Jailbreaked using the Evasi0n Jailbreaking tool. For last few days, I was facing a strange issue with the Google Chrome browser. Google Chrome was crashing in just few seconds after opening it on the iPad. I tried deleting the app and reinstalled it but Chrome kept crashing. I even restored by iPad from a previous backup, but Chrome kept crashing.

Then I stumbled on the Rating and Reviews section of the chrome app at Appstore and was shocked to find that many users are complaining about the crash.Even the overall rating of the chrome app was dropped to almost two and half stars after many users loads of users gave it a single star rating perhaps due to almost crash of the chrome app.

Crash only on Jailbroken devices?

Though  many users are saying that Chrome is working fine for them, I can only infer that it is happening only on Jailbroken devices but unless it is confirmed by many users I cant say that for sure.

How to fix crashing of Chrome App

Till Google fixes this issue, there is a small workaround that fixes this crash. Follow the steps below to fix the Chrome crash:

  1. Delete or uninstall the Chrome app on your devices.
  2. Go to Appstore and install Google Chrome app again.
  3. After install finish, just open it. On opening it first time, you will see the “Google Chrome terms of service dialog”. On that page, Select the option of  “Help make Google Chrome better by automatically sending usage statistics and crash reports to Google” before clicking on “Accept & Continue” button.

chrome crash fix on iPad, iPhone

You are done now and now Google chrome wont crash on your iPad or iPhone.

If you wish, you can even disable the option of  “Help make Google Chrome better by automatically sending usage statistics and crash reports to Google” by going into Chrome Settings and still it wont crash after this setting change.
