Often we need to deal with corrupted settings of web browsers for one reason or other and it often results in loss of Bookmarks, Browsing history, Passwords, Cookies, Web form auto-fill information etc. Most often the common solution to fix the browser or its corrupted settings, we need to uninstall the browser and install it again to make it work again. But this procedure of fixing the browser doesn’t keep all your personal settings.

Reset Firefox Feature

Latest beta version of Firefox beta now comes with a brand new feature called “Reset Firefox” which  can fix many common issues by restoring Firefox browser to its default factory state by creating a new Firefox profile while keeping intact your Bookmarks, Browsing history, Passwords, Cookies, Web form auto-fill information etc.

What Reset Firefox Feature doesn’t restore or Save

Keep in mind that this feature doesn’t saves or restores your extensions, themes, Open tabs, windows & tab groups, site-specific preferences, search engines, personal dictionary, download history, DOM storage, security certificate settings, security device settings, download actions, toolbar customizations and user styles etc.

Reset Firefox to its default state

In your Firefox browser, just navigate to Firefox >> Help >> Troubleshooting Information. Just click on Troubleshooting Information.

In the next window, you will find a button for “Reset Firefox”.  Just click on it and then on a confirmation window. After you click on the confirmation window, Firefox will close and restart.

Now your Firefox Browser restarts with a new Firefox profile while keeping intact your Bookmarks, Browsing history, Passwords, Cookies, Web form auto-fill information etc.
