Onscreen keyboard to protect from keyloggers, clipboard monitors and screen capture tools

Most of you must be aware that using onscreen keyboard is one of the easiest way to protect yourself from keyloggers, clipboard monitors and screen capture tools that may attempt to steal your passwords, sensitive or personal information. Even though Windows does provide a Virtual keyboard or onscreen keyboard, but its not secure. Today we will talk about a small portable secure on-screen keyboard utility called Neo`s SafeKeys.

Developers Description

Neo’s SafeKeys is a free program to help protect you against keyloggers and other malware. Neo’s SafeKeys employs many anti-keylogging techniques in order to keep your information and passwords secure from identity theft, bank and credit card theft, Facebook account hacking, World of Warcraft account hacking and more.

Features

  • Unlike the Windows on-screen keyboard, Neo’s SafeKeys does not translate on-screen key presses to actual key presses (the Windows on-screen keyboard does not protect you against keyloggers)
  • You don’t use your keyboard (keyloggers cannot record the password)
  • The utility changes width and height each time, as well as its placement on the screen (to fool mouse-loggers, buttons will always be in different positions each time you use the program)
  • Nothing is stored in the clipboard (clipboard loggers cannot save the password).
  • You can use upper-case letters and symbols (such as !@#${}) by pressing the CAP button – no matter how complex your password is, the utility can type it.

  • Protection against screen loggers: There are different mouse-entry methods. Some keyloggers take screenshots every time you do a mouse-click. Now you can register on-screen entry by hovering over on-screen buttons.
  • The on-screen keyboard can be scrambled or changed to the Dvorak layout. In addition, the ‘real’ keyboard entry can match the onscreen layout.
  • You can hide typed keys in amongst random computer-entered keystroke

Give it a try if you want a simple solution for protection against protection from keyloggers, clipboard monitors and screen capture tools.

interesting story AVI how does this compare with Kaspersky virtual keyboard?

    • Its better as its standalone product with much more features compared to Kaspersky virtual keyboard tool.

A small description from Kaspersky help

“The Virtual Keyboard only prevents the interception of privacy data when working with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers. “

Thanks for the heads-up on this product. I especially like that it’s portable. We need more portable apps!
