Many times we have talked about PDF tools like PDFill, PrimoPDF, DoPDF etc. which can do different things with PDF files like Combine, split, watermark, encrypt, sign PDF files. Some of these PDF tools are paid ones and some free. Today we will talk about one of good PDf tools jPDF Tweak which can combine, split, rotate, reorder, watermark, encrypt, sign PDF files.

jPDF Tweak is a small java based Open source application which needs you to have java 5 or higher being installed on your system. It doesn’t require you to install it on your system. You can just run the application by double clicking the java file inside the folder you downloaded (You need to extract the zip file that is being downloaded).

For many of you, this may look odd at first as a command line interface (DOS window) too will be running along with it. The interface may look some confusing for most of you at once but in few minutes if you just go through every tab , you will know its not that bad and it will look great piece of software. You just need to select the appropriate tab depending on what you want to do with your PDF file or files like ombine, split, watermark, encrypt, sign those files.

Features at Glance

  • Combine, split, rotate, reorder, watermark, encrypt, sign PDFs
  • Make printable booklets from your PDFs
  • Add PDF bookmarks
  • Combine multiple PDF files
  • Watermark them
  • Rotate pages that do not fit
  • Attach files to your PDF,
  • Encrypt and sign your PDFs
  • Change metadata (like author or keywords)

I did a small test with three PDF files to see how good it works. I tried combining those three PDF files and the result was great. The resultant output combined PDF file was good. Even if the files are having different page sizes, it ask you to scale those pages using one of the tab/options to a single page size and then you can combine those. A jPDF manual of the application can be found on developers website.
