Demonoid BitTorrent Tracker Ditches .COM Domain

As most of you know Demonoid is one of the largest Bit Torrent trackers after Piratebay. In their latest announcement, they announced their decision to migrate from a .com to .me.

We are in the process of migrating the site to our new address, Demonoid.ME

Please update your torrents to the new tracker address, inferno.demonoid.me
Additionally, you can re download them and get them with the new address automatically Also, don’t forget to update your bookmarks and RSS feeds

Even though they didn’t said anything about the reason for this migration, it looks like its related to recent Domain name seizures done by US govt on different charges. As Torrentfreak notes

The move comes as no surprise since both the MPAA and RIAA listed Demonoid in their recent submissions of “notorious markets” for pirate material. There can be little doubt that last week’s domain name seizures by the US Government’s Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement have had a somewhat destabilising effect on the presumed security of BitTorrent sites.

The logo too looks a bit changed with .ME being added to site name.

What opinion you have regarding this forced migration? Share your thoughts in Comments.

Thats really surprising. what about the trackers for existing torrents? will they be redirected to the new one? or will they say server unavailable?

edit: sorry I didnt see the screenshot. So we can update the trackers manually or re-download them :)
