Cover your P2P, downloading tracks and surf web secretly

by Avinash in Internet

Many of you must be aware of the fact that there are people, organizations all over the world who try to watch what you do when you are online.  Whether you are downloading something, browsing something someone is trying to find that out. These include anti P2P organisations (like RIAA, MPAA) , spyware creators, unscrupulous advertisers, and just many other people trying to look at what you and your computer is doing.

peerblock Cover your P2P, downloading tracks and surf web secretlyPeerBlock is one such tool which helps you to hide identity of your computer and you too by blocking a extensive range of IP addresses related to these unwanted sources.

PeerBlock lets you control who your computer “talks to” on the Internet.  By selecting appropriate lists of “known bad” computers, you can block communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring your p2p activities, computers which have been “hacked”, even entire countries!  They can’t get in to your computer, and your computer won’t try to send them anything either.

PeerBlock basically works on the concept of “IP Blocker“. Whenever your computer connects to outside, Peer Block compares the IP address of the connection source IP to its extensive IP bad list. If the IP is matched with its database, then it blocks the IP and no connection is possible later on with that IP.

The IP bad list database is constantly being updated and you can configure Peerblock about the way and frequency with which it updates the IP database.

peerblock updateThis update makes you and your computer safe from unwanted people and organizations to peep in your system. Also, if you are one of those guys who downloads too much from Torrents etc., then this tool is a must. Above all, its free and open source.
