I was pretty sad to read one comment when one of the winners of the Online armor Giveaway here was not able to grab the license using the promo code i sent to him. It seems all the promo codes are used otherwise the problem wont have been there.
The reason it seems one of the winners either leaked the code to others or used the code to buy more than one licenses of Online Armor. That’s pretty bad. I didn’t expected some of my readers to be dishonest (If someone used the code more than what he or she should have).
May be I need to think about all this before planning any more giveaways.
For those of you who are facing problems in getting OA license, I would ask you to grab the OA++ license using the Giveawayoftheday.com which is offerng the license for FREE today only (29th Jan 2010). Or use the coupon code I have specified in my Today Post.

Clearly some despicable reader has used the promo code to buy more licenses or exposed to some third party.May be next time you consider of sending unique individual license keys.I am disappointed too,but that’s how greedy people can get without any consideration or care!I won too,but now I signed-up for Online Armor++ and got the license key,so thanks anyway for giveaway.
A good idea, I agree. I would think the unique keys would have to be generated from O-A or whatever giveaway would be hosted. I wouldn’t think it too huge a problem to generate a specific list of keys that only specific users could access or activate with on the software vendor’s end. Then again, it’s easy to say, maybe not so easy to do, I don’t know considering I don’t produce software. Out of the current situation, I hope “AT LEAST” it still puts the word out for O-A so at least some good can come of this.
I have to admit, I don’t like GOTD since I had a few issues with them in the past, things put on my computer I didn’t like, and the user agreements along with other things and I don’t like Comodo for numerous reasons, oddly enough, not because of the software itself. Perhaps my morals get in the way too much “or so I am told” but regardless, I can’t use O-A due to lack of X64 support so with all this in mind, I will use PCtools firewall for now until O-A has X64 which I’ve mentioned previously. << And speaking of which, there is no reason on this green earth to steal Firewall licenses, there are numerous free versions, even of O-A if you can't afford the full.
I agree with you mate on the point of GAOTD, that’s why i asked guys to use the promo code in that post which is valid today atleast.
That’s very sad Avinash. Such things are common in this world. We can’t say that someone did it intentionally, because one may be curious to see if the discount code works for the second time or not and to his surprise it did worked. The good thing is that only one reader was affected, also there is a promo of OA++ at GAOTD today, so that the winner don’t have to worry about it. Anyway this kind of incidents teach us what we should not do the next time…
Its hard to think that in a giveaway, they abuse the use of it. Remember that you win because it give by God. You wishing the key really badly, I am right? So don’t abuse. Its give by God. Thank Him and be Honest.

Hi mate, Just Grab it from the GAOTD or from code of my post today, i talked about in my previous comment.
While I can’t use it, I tried the promo and nope, won’t work for me either. It’s a damn shame when FREE isn’t good enough for the greedy. Sadly, they probably didn’t even need a free code like many of us who can’t afford to buy software all the time. If in fact this is what happened and some user did in fact disperse the code to others, go rot. That was ignorant and inconsiderate and there was no need for this, especially if you are a reader here, you would have known there is this giveaway today and didn’t have to do that. Once again, go rot.

as for those dishonest ones , well sooner or later they will get what they diserve anyway , unfortunatly its not a perfect world , …
send a mail if you want to get more info , there are ways to block the not so honest people , …
i agree with pc hammer , if free is allready a problem for those people then they are actually sick , i mean what else can you want ? its free for one day , point ! what are they going to do with all those extra downloads ? sell them ?
its a shame and its one of the reasons some software companies have stopped to give discounts , unfortunatly for non profits this can be a real problem , and for people who have a limited income also , i know plenty of them , at least despite that they have sometimes problems with paying bills they are honest !
if those people would have any self respect they would not do this , since if you respect yourself you can give respect to others , …

Well, I did tried initially to get the license codes directly instead of the promo code. But the idea of promo code was a bit different and I thought we should give it a try. Here’s some of those reasons :
* The code gave a discount of $19.95 which meant, it can be used for 1 year license of OA, but for those of you who wanted any other product from them like OA++ could have used them for the discount with that product. So I though may be some of you would love to buy some other product then it can be used.
* Another reason It was quite a job for them to remove the promo codes from there system and then generate 100 new ones. I didn’t wanted them to work more after they generously offered me 100 licenses even though I haven’t asked them for even 50. So I was a bit hesitant to ask them to do more work and hence I sticked with the idea.
* Initially My plan was to put it for first 100 readers, but due to reasons like this only that it may be leaked to a bigger forum or over the web and would not benefit the real Avinashtech readers, I decided to put it as a giveaway contest though It was a big task for me to generate the list of email address of winners from the comments.
Anyway, I wont like to label my readers dishonest just for may be 1 guy or more.
I would just like to say, It takes a lot of work to get Free licenses for Giving away for free and Incidents like this does make me sad and many others.
But still, I will try bring more for you guys but may be no promo codes after this and that means number of licenses may reduce. I hope they dont get reduced and will try my best for that.
Thank you for the effort mate. Once again, it’s truly appreciated. And I for one can say, if it’s that much work, which I know it can be, I will gladly give up any rights to win a license here if you need the help in distributing them when large scale licenses come up. This way, it takes some of the work load off of you and if specific keys were distributed, it would mean the correct people get their software. Heck, a couple of volunteers and 100 licenses with specific codes could potentially be only 25 each to be distributed per volunteer and yourself. Of course, this is assuming specific generated codes could be made available from the vendor.
Just a thought anyway.

hi,Avinash its undoubtedlu that one of the stupid reader leaked the promo code i am also facing the same problem not able to dnld the prog.but fine im waitin for the 64bit version of the firewall hope we didnot face this kimda weird problem again by the way its quite frustrating but thats not ur fault so keep doin good work many thanx for the giveaway
